Earth Day is celebrated on April 22nd, which is just around the corner (is it really March already?). It’s a time for us all to focus our energy and support on issues to protect this wonderful planet we call home. It’s cool to know that more than a billion people celebrate Earth Day, all seeking to make this world a better and happier place to live.
Favorite Earth Day Boom Cards for Digital Learning
How are you planning to bring Earth Day to life for students? A quick glance at Pinterest or Instagram will show you any number of creative and engaging activities. One of the things I most enjoy is to do it digitally – let’s not waste paper, after all!
Recycling, Composting, or Landfill Boom Cards
With that, I want to share with you my Earth Day Boom Cards set. This is a good starting point to get young minds aware of important conservation concepts. Students will begin by learning the difference between recycling, composting and landfill. It will get conversations started about where our trash goes, and what happens to it.
Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle Boom Cards
The next part of the activity will have the students learn about what to reduce, reuse and recycle. They will continue to learn about the different ways we can all help the earth every day. Why not pick items around the room, and ask them which category they fall into, too?
Sorting for Recycling Boom Cards
Lastly, they will ‘sort’ items on screen to recycle them. They’ll love the interactive touch here, as they follow the instructions to drag and drop the right items (glass, plastic, paper, metal or compost) into the bin on the screen.
Why are Boom Cards so great for digital classroom?
By now, you must all know I love Boom Cards. If you’re not sure about them, and want to know more, see my post here. It should tell you all you need to know! I have also put together this video to help you determine if they are for you.
My comment earlier about them being perfect for Earth Day as they are digital really does ring true… let’s use less paper. As my daughter always says: “Mother Earth will be happy.”
I’d love to know more about what is planned in your community. It’s so wholesome to see people doing wonderful things to preserve some of the beauty of this planet and its resources for future generations!
That’s all for now. Have a great day!
